Spousal support after marriage?

Child support is a highly regulated and controlled element of divorce. State and Federal agencies and their related bureaucracies thrive on the collection, distribution and enforcement of orders and awarded monies. Opinions run the gamut, so for now I will leave this issue at rest for another day.
